Muthiah is a Seasoned HR Professional with over 35 years of experience.  He is known for his business-driven HR strategies, which have shaped the engineering industries into global leaders. He served as Executive Vice President and Head of HR at Carborundum Universal (CUMI), Murugappa Group. He led the HR Team of 24 manufacturing units and operations in India, Russia, China and SA. He has also worked with automobile giants like Hyundai and Textile legends like Madura Coats.   Muthiah is a Lead Director of the Board (SEDCO is a natural gas-based power plant) and a Business Group Managing Committee and Review Committees member.

He has spearheaded leadership development, business realignment, consequent organization restructuring, and rightsizing at various SBUs. The Job Analysis and Grade Rationalization he implemented through Hey’s Job Evaluation and building a Customer-Centric Organization through Employee Involvement, TQM, and Engagement Initiatives have been acclaimed by Business Heads.

His achievements include building innovative systems and processes for people management in greenfield projects in India and China. He developed a process for identifying change managers and creating future people capacity. Muthiah implemented novel methods of nurturing people for Business Excellence, institutionalizing Collaborative Industrial Relations that augmented business growth in large corporates.

Muthiah has a Doctorate in Management Studies. He is certified as an HR Excellence Assessor, Saville (Wave and Attitude), Hogan Assessment, FIRO-B Assessment and Interpretations, Human Capital Analytics, and Executive Coaching from the Neuro Leadership Institute. He is active in professional associations like NIPM, ISTD, NHRD, EFSI, FICCI, CII -HR, and IR Panel.
