Sungrow 40CX Premium Multi MPPT String Inverter for 1000 VDC System, SG40CX

The Sungrow SG40CX-P2 is a 40kW three-phase grid-tie string inverter for 1000Vdc systems, built for commercial rooftops and small ground-mount plants. Four independent MPPTs each take two strings and track across a 160–1000V window, so arrays split across different roof orientations can run on a single unit without yield loss. Recommended PV input reaches 56kWp against 40kW rated output — 1.4x oversizing headroom — with 44kVA maximum apparent power. Max efficiency 98.5% with 98.3% European efficiency. Each MPPT accepts 30A for 120A total input current, supporting high-current bifacial and large-format modules with 15A per DC input. The unit is 34% lighter than comparable inverters in its class, which meaningfully reduces rooftop handling and installation effort. Protection includes an arc fault circuit interrupter, key component diagnosis, and Type I+II surge protection on the DC side with Type II on AC — a step above smaller units and important for exposed commercial installations. The IP66 enclosure carries a C5 anti-corrosion rating and operates from -30°C to +60°C up to 4000m altitude with smart forced air cooling. Optional compatibility with the Sungrow SP600S optimizer adds module-level tracking and rapid shutdown where shading or fire code requires it. At 40kg it mounts on a wall bracket, using EVO2 DC connectors up to 6mm² and OT terminals for 16–35mm² AC cable. Monitoring runs over RS485 as standard with WLAN and Ethernet optional, plus LED display and Bluetooth app control.
